August
1,
2009: Major
Version
release of ProLog-V7.00 which includes:
-
A new streamlined, more
logically oriented logging form with some new data fields and
operational methodologies that will further enhance the logging
experience.
-
The old style tags and
definitions have been replaced by a Category system. Categories, of
which there are 32 for each logbook, permit you to group your contacts
into various categories. Each category carries its own user defined
title that is prominently displayed in a pull-down list. No more
checkboxes to interpret. You know at a quick glance which categories
have been assigned to each contact. Also, you can sort and display
your logbook contacts by one of more defined categories.
-
The county information
content has been expanded to ensure more accurate logging, award
crediting and reporting to support your county hunting efforts.
-
The memory channel
functionality has been improved. ProLog-V7 now permits you to assign and
select memory channels that contain frequencies that are outside of
the ham bands such as WWV, CHU Canada, foreign broadcast stations etc.
-
The DX summit interface
has been improved by providing separate "Send DX Spot" and
"Announcement" buttons within the main logging form. No more
pull-down menus to navigate. Prolog-V7 also adds a pull-down list that
contains the various links to DX Summit so you no longer have to
manually enter this information.
-
ProLog-V7 adds new
contest features with the addition of two new logging form fields; "Exchange
Sent" and "Exchange Received". To
speed things up and avoid repetitive keystrokes, you can predefine
specific repetitive exchange information for either field. In
addition, an automatically incrementing serial number is provided for
each contact. The serial number is maintained across ProLog sessions
so you can easily pick up where you left off on succeeding days of a
given contest. Combined with the Log Form Field Sequencing
and "Alert on Worked Status" features, ProLog is the perfect
logging program for casual contesters.
-
V7's new
"Map" button permits you to display a map of the DXCC
Country or US State associated with the contact in the logging form. The US State
maps also include county names and boundaries, providing yet another
useful tool for County Hunters. These maps are included with the V7 Logging System; an Internet connection is not required.
-
ProLog-V7 permits you
to associate the image of an Electronic QSL such as those from
eQSL.cc or a scanner derived paper QSL, a photo
of the operator, or for that matter, any JPG or GIF file with a given
contact. Each logbook
has its own "Image Files" folder where the image files are
physically stored. Once an image file is stored, you then link that
file with the contact. With the contact displayed in the logging form,
one click of the "Image" button and the image file for that
contact is displayed.
-
V7 has dramatically
improved the extended Notes functionality by providing each logbook
with its own "Notepad Files" folder. ProLog-V7 does away
with the problematic file numbering system, replacing it with a system where
the file is named with the actual callsign of the associated contact
making for a much more coherent file naming convention.
-
The V7 DX Spot Window
has been enhanced to include an "LoTW" member notification.
With this new feature, the user is able to determine directly from the
spot list whether a spotted station is a member of the ARRL's LoTW
program. This is in addition to the "LoTW" LED that is
displayed in the logging form.
-
LoTW LED's have been
added to the QSL Route Manager Database form so you can quickly
determine whether or not a DX Station or the Manager participate in
ARRL's LoTW Award Program.
-
ProLog-V7 further
enhances the Callsign Alert functionality by allowing the User to
restrict the alert notification only to those bands and/or modes that
have not been worked. Once you work the station on a given band and/or
mode, you will no longer be alerted when new spots arrive for that
band and mode. However, the user still receives an alert for that band
providing the spot is for a mode that has yet to be worked. A very
functional tool for that rare DX-pedition.
-
The
logbook-form-to-logbook-menu has been improved. The user no longer has
to exit the logging form to display the logbook or the configuration
menus. The Logging Form and the Logbook Menu or the Configuration menu
are simultaneously displayed.
-
ProLog's new Logbook
Backup Alert permits the user to define the number of days between
logbook backups. When the established backup interval expires, ProLog
will remind the user that it is time to perform a logbook backup
operation. This is accomplished by a simple click of a button from the
Logbook Menu and allows the user to choose any storage media that is
recognized by the computer. The new backup format is compatible with
all versions of the Windows Operating System.
-
The user can now select
whether to enter text in the "Name", "City" and
"County" fields in the logging form in either all upper case
or a mix of upper and lower case.
-
In prior versions of
ProLog, the Award Status colors were pre-defined. With ProLog-V7 users
can now select their own color schemes for each of the award status
and submission levels.
-
V7 adds a number of
newly support rigs including the Elecraft K2 and K3.
-
ProLog-V7 has a greatly
improved context sensitive help system that contains many new examples
and images. It's much more than just a help file, it's virtually an
operational tutorial.
-
ProLog-V7 runs under
Windows XP, Vista-32, Vista-64 and the soon-to-be-released Windows-7
Operating System.

Version 6 Enhancements
-
The DX Spot Window is
now dynamically configurable to 6 or 24 lines retaining display
of all the information and command buttons in either mode. The 6 line
mode permits the placement and unobstructed view of the DX Spot Window
and logging form simultaneously.
-
The DX Summit Monitor
window automatically configures itself to the number of displayable
lines based on window vertical sizing thus permitting it to reside
side-by-side with the DX Spot window if desired.
-
ProLog now tracks every
QSO in three ways. Standard QSL, eQSL or a combination of both.
Instantly switch between QSL Methods to display your award status or
work/confirm statistics relative to each method.
-
Dx Spot Alerts can be
independently gated by the chosen QSL Method.
-
Rig Memory Channel
Switching can now be accomplished directly from the Logging Form.
-
A New LoTW membership
database instantly conveys whether a given callsign has uploaded their
logbook to the LotW website. You will receive a callsign's LoTW
status whenever you enter a new contact, lookup a contact in one of
the supported Callsign databases or display the contact information
from a previous contact. A current LoTW membership database is
included with each system and monthly updates are available free of
charge via our FTP Website.
-
Two new colors have
been added to the traffic signaling award status methodology. In
addition to the standard Red, Yellow and Green, Orange conveys that a
station has been worked only with no active QSL'ing (Paper or eQSL)
and Blue conveys that a station has been worked, a QSL has been
received but no award submission has been made. This new Blue status
is particularly useful for LoTW where contacts have been
cross-referenced between logs but confirmation credits have not been
purchased.
-
ProLog now supports all
25 digital modes defined in the ADIF 2.16 specification. This enhances
the MixW interface because now all Digital Modes are properly
translated.
-
QSO Begin and End Times
are now logged down to the second so rapid-fire contacts with the same
station on the same band will not produce an error message.
-
A new "DB"
field has been added to the RST sent and received fields permitting
the entry of DB-Over entries up to "99".
-
A new feature
named "VariList"
permits the user to specify which data
field information will appear in the Page Mode window. Default
information includes Callsign, Date, Time, Band, Mode, RSTs, RSTr, and
QSL/eQSL status. The last column is the VariList column which contains
user programmed field data which can be horizontally scrolled to view
information that exceeds the right margin. Conveniently, only the
VariList column is scrolled horizontally so display of the
default contact information is maintained.
-
ProLog is Daylight
Savings Time (DST) Ready. Commencing in 2007 the DST changeover dates
will begin one month earlier in March and end one month later in
November. Should Congress elect to switch back (Which they have
reserved the right do) ProLog permits you to select either
timeframe (Old or New) with a single click.

of the variable data was removed from the associated data entry field
in the logging form.
August
22, 2009 --
V7.10 Bug Fixes:
-
Corrected a problem
whereby when transferring a contact from the Page Mode list back to
the Logging Form, the CQ Zone and ITU Zone assignments would revert
back to their default values rather than the assignments that may have
been edited.
September
12, 2009 --
V7.11 Bug Fixes:
-
This version corrects a
problem with the customer CD-ROM verification logic when ProLog
detects a licensing information error.
-
Added new functionality
to the LoTW Report File processor in the ADIF Import module. When an
imported contact matches a contact in the logbook but the Band and/or
mode does not, ProLog will issue an error message to the User listing
the call sign of the contact that does not compare. Also, the number
of contacts that have been reported in this fashion will be listed in
the final stats display.
-
Fixed a problem with
the QRZ local database processing module when running under Vista-64.
-
The Callsign Database
button in the logging form now contains the name of the Database being
used taking the form, "HamCall", "RAC", "QRZ"
or "SAMS".
October
2, 2009 --
V7.12 Bug Fixes:
-
This version adds new
County Award Files that for the most part contain county names that
are identical with the counthunters.com website. Also, the Alaskan
Counties have been completely re-worked. The individual Alaskan
boroughs have been removed and replaced with the four Alaskan Judicial
Districts. A new dialog box has been added that lists each of the
Alaskan boroughs and their corresponding Judicial Districts.
-
Corrected a problem
with Logbook Menu re-indexing function. If, for some reason, a logbook
containing contacts was paired with Index files that reflected no
contacts the indexing logic would not process the file.
-
Corrected a problem
with the Logbook Menu "Merge D/B Info" function.
October
9, 2009 --
V7.13 Bug Fixes:
-
Corrected an
operational problem with the "DXCC" button in the Award
Status panel. Clicking "DXCC" will now take you to the
entity list, positioned at the entity shown in the "DXCC"
field of the logging form.
-
In some instances, when
entering QSO's with multiple assigned prefixes (i.e. 3D2's, FO's and
possibly others), the multiple prefix selection dialog was not being
automatically activated. This has been corrected.
-
Corrected a problem
with the tracking of "Dade" county in MO and GA.
-
Corrected a problem
with accessing the QRZ local disk-based database.
November
1, 2009 --
V7.14 Bug Fixes:
-
Added
"Olivia" to the list of MixW supported Digital Modes.
-
Added "VK9"
to the list of multiple selection DXCC prefixes. This was done in
response to the Australian Communications and Media Authority
announcement that it will discontinue the use of a VK9 suffix
letter to denote each of the six Australian external territories.
-
Corrected a problem
with ICOM Rig Control whereby the Rigs IF Filter setting was not being
retained when changing rig frequencies and/or modes from the ProLog
Program.
-
This version also
includes a new ADIF Import module. Some export modules, contrary to
the ADIF specification, are embedding a '<" character in data
strings causing ProLog to crash while processing such a record. Even
though this should not happen with files that follow the ADIF
specification, the new ADIF import module now has protective code to
deal with this situation.
November
8, 2009 --
V7.15 Bug Fixes:
-
Corrected a problem
with Rig Control Files whereby file names in excess of 8 characters
were not recognized.
-
Added the ability to
edit the callsign of a newly entered contact. This enhancement has
been added as a new menu entry in the logging form right-click
menu.
-
This version update also contains new ADIF import (V7.05 Dated 10/31/2009) and
ADIF export (V7.04 Dated 09/19/2009) executable files.
November 18, 2009 --
V7.16/V7.17 Enhancements:
-
Comments from customers
that the Logging Form "CALL" field is difficult to read when
it is deactivated (Greyed) due to the reduction of the
foreground/background contrast, has been corrected by continuing to
maintain the Black letters on a white background even though field
modification is inhibited.
-
The new Edit Callsign
functionality has been further enhanced by the addition of a checkbox
that permits the user to retain the original QSO Date/Time or update
those variables with the current Date/Time.
December
19, 2009 --
V7.18 Enhancements:
-
Corrected a problem
whereby if ProLog was unable to establish Rig Control with the
selected rig, an error message would be displayed, and the Rig Queue
selection pull-down would be deactivated thus prohibiting the
selection of another rig. Re-activation of Rig Control was only
possible by exiting to the Rig Control Menu, reselecting a different
rig and then returning to the logging form. New code in ProLog V7.18
leaves the Rig Selection Queue pull-down active at all times even when
a rig control error is encountered, allowing the user to re-select
another rig without leaving the Logging Form window.
January 6,
2010
-- V7.19 Enhancements:
-
Added ICOM IC-718 and
the Kenwood TS-790 to the list of supported rigs. (Download the
RIGSUDV100 File)
-
Changed the Vari-List
"QVIA" label to "QMNGR".
-
Modified the Rig
control module to more quickly establish rig communications when
switching rigs from the rig Selection Queue.
-
Modified the Rig
Contrpl module so each active rig can have its own Poll Rate setting.
Prior to this change all rigs had a common Poll Rate value.
February
12,
2010
-- V7.20 Enhancements:
-
Corrected a problem
whereby under some circumstances the LoTW Report Status was not being
properly transferred to the associated contact in the logbook.
-
Enhanced the Edit
Callsign function to include the modification of the Date and the
Start/End QSO time.
February 13,
2010
-- V7.21 Enhancements:
-
Added a new
"E" pushbutton to the Logging form to provide quick access
to the Edit Callsign/Date/Time function. The new pushbutton is just
below the existing "U" pushbutton adjacent to the
"Date" field in the upper left hand corner of the logging
form.
June 6,
2010
-- V7.22 Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
-
This new version
contains the implementation of a new display font for the Dialog Boxes
and List Displays. The new font is bolder in appearance providing a
much better foreground to background contrast with easier readability.
Be advised, that due to the change in font, you may have to re-size a
number of your existing ProLog windows. The new font size has been
optimized to run with varying resolutions and any of the three Win-7
standard font size DPI settings. (96 DPI/120 DPI/144 DPI).
-
The main logging form
layout has been slightly revised. The colors of the GMT Time, GMT Date
and Local Time Fields are now displayed in the user-defined foreground
and background color selections. The "DX Time" field has
been relocated from the "Bearing and Country Information"
panel to the GMT Date/Time/Local TIme grouping. This
re-arrangement places all of the time information at a single point in
the logging form.
-
A new feature has been
added to the "Update QSL/Category Status (ALL)" function. A
"Retain Existing Date" checkbox has been added so when
changes are made to the QSL/eQSL status of contacts in the SFI list,
the user can elect to retain any existing date information. See the
updated help file for more detailed information.
-
We have corrected a
problem with backup filenames. Windows does not permit the use of some
special characters in filenames, the stroke character "/"
being one of them. Of course we use strokes all the time for portable
operations. Be advised though that to satisfy the needs of Windows, strokes
in logbook titles will be changed to hyphens (-) so if you should ever
restore a logbook and your logbook was titled W5VP/2 the backup will be
in a folder labeled "W5VP-2". The hyphen is translated back
to a stroke if and when the logbook is ever restored.
-
A "Manager"
field has been added to the Callbook Lookup Dialog Box. Also the
Callbook information data fields which used to be fixed color (yellow
characters on a black background) are now displayed with the User
Defined foreground/background colors.
June 12,
2010
-- V7.23 Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
-
V7.23 corrects a bug in
V7.22 where the Band information was not displayed when displaying the
dupe (Previously Worked) list.
June 20,
2010
-- V7.24 Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
-
V7.24 Expands the Page
List Mode to the full horizontal width of the screen. This change has
been made to accommodate more data in the Vari-List Column of the Page
Mode Window. This change also applies to the SFI List and Award Totals
List Windows as well.
-
Corrected a
radio-button selection problem in the Award Totals Window whereby the
"Both" radio-button was not selectable.
July 3,
2010
-- V7.25 Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
-
Corrected a problem
with the "Totals" List "Submit Ready" function
where erroneous entity entries were being listed. This was traced to
improper decoding of contacts made using digital modes.
-
Corrected a problem
whereby in the RST default mode, a trailing space was being stored
into tone position of the RSTs and RSTr fields when using SSB
transmission mode. This made it difficult to edit the default signal
level position. The trailing space has been removed.
-
The change in V7.,24 to
expand the Page List, SFI List and Award Totals List Windows to full
screen has also been incorporated into the Dupe List Window as well.
-
This
new version also includes a County Award File Update (V1.01). Make
sure you download and install that update file as well.
July 17,
2010
-- V7.26 Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
-
Corrected a problem
with the Memory Channel Window. When a memory channel was selected,
and the associated mode for that channel was SSB, regardless of the
band, the transceiver would be set to LSB. This problem has been
corrected and the mode set at the transceiver is now set to LSB or USB
based on the band.

-- V6.25:
-
Corrected a problem

Online. Note: This service requires a subscription (Read Fee) to QRZ
Online which is a separate entity from the standard QRZ lookups.
-
Corrected a problem
with eQSL status lookups using settings in the SFI filter menu. Some
status combinations, even though present in some contacts were not
located and listed.
March 2,
2008
-- V6.26
-
Added an Entity
Selection Dialog Box permitting the User to select either North or
South Cook Island on all "E5" series callsigns.
-
Corrected a problem
where DX Spot Alerting was not following the mode settings established
by the user-defined band plan.
-
Corrected a problem
where DX Spots received from the DxTelNet program were not
automatically populating the DX Spot List Window.
-
Corrected a problem
where the Dupe Contact List was being displayed a second time just
prior to saving a new contact to the database.
-
Corrected a problem
where the Auto-End-QSO-Time function was not working properly. The
same time (Minutes/Seconds) was being saved in both the Start and
End QSO Time Fields.
March
16,
2008
-- V6.27
-
Corrected a problem
where the Alarm On/Off LED was inadvertently being shut off whenever
a change was made to the filter settings from the DX Spot Window.
-
Corrected a problem
where the Dupe List of previous contacts was not properly displaying
the transmission mode of the contact. This error applied only to the
Digital Modes.
-
This version corrects a
problem that was a side-effect of a fix that was incorporated in
V6.26 relative to the Dupe Contact List being displayed a second
time. The side-effect of this fix was that under certain
circumstances the User Preferences would be defaulted back to their
default values when saving contact data back to the logbook
database. This problem has been corrected.
March
30,
2008
-- V6.28
-
Corrected a problem
where ProLog would not properly initialize COM Port numbers above 9.
-
The Page Mode
double-click function has been enhanced to statically display the
selected contact information without returning to the Logging Form
thus permitting the user to remain in Page Mode while reviewing
contact data. To Edit the contact, simply select it then depress the
keyboard "ENTER" key to place the contact into the logging form.
-
This version corrects a
problem with the Logbook Re-index module. Running a Logbook Re-index
would in fact setup a situation whereby the next new contact that
was entered would appear out of sequence and, if searched for, would
be associated with and display an entirely different contact and
call sign.
April
23,
2008
-- V6.29
-
Corrected a problem
where callsign information received back from QRZ Online was not
properly processed due to case sensitivity.
-
Corrected a problem
where on newly entered contacts, edits to the default Callbook
Information (Name, QTH, County etc.) were not being retained when the
contact was saved to the database.
-
Corrected a problem
where there was some undesirable cross-talk between the QSL Route
Manager and the Logging program. This had to do with looking up and
transferring callsign information in the Route Manager then entering a
new contact into the logging program. Rather than displaying the
information for the callsign entered, the information from the
previous Route Manager callsign lookup would appear in the logging
form.
July 28,
2008
-- V6.30
-
Corrected a problem
where a number of ProLog's display windows were not being properly
re-painted when other application windows were overlaid or moved
across ProLog's windows.
-
Corrected a problem
where actively switching between the DX Spot List Window and the
'Totals' window would corrupt the file path settings established by
the 'Totals' processing module.
-
Corrected a problem
where the 'Totals' display window was not properly displayed using
Windows 'Large Size (120 DPI)'' setting. The result was window
clipping that masked over some of the command pushbuttons.
November
22,
2008
-- V6.31
-
The loss of DX Spots in
the Spot List Window is due to a minor change in the DX Summit record
format. V6.31 has been re-coded to conform to the new format.
Unfortunately, they made a modification to the incoming spot format as
well, but information on this change is not available at this time. In
the meantime the generation of DX Spots has be temporarily removed
from the ProLog environment. Clicking the "Send DX Spot"
menu entry will take you to the DX Summit Website where you may enter
your spot information. As soon as we have the new format information
we will restore DX Spotting from the ProLog environment.
November
27,
2008
-- V6.32
-
This version restores
DX Spotting to the ProLog environment.
-
Additionally, this
version adds the ability to send General Announcements via DX Summit.
The "Options" menu now contains a new menu entry labeled
"Send Announcement".

2009
-- V6.34
March
20,
2009
-- V6.35
April 4,
2009
-- V6.36
-
This version update
corrects a problem when utilizing the "Digital" checkbox.
With some rigs, the mode setting in the logging form was reverting
back to the currently selected rig mode rather than retaining the
selected Digital Mode.
-
This version also
corrects a problem associated with the batch processing of eQSL status
utilizing the "Update QSL/Tag Status (Group)" located on the
right-click menu of the SFI list or any of the award report
modules.
